Hearken

Hearken

A Poem by Neville

Hearken

Listen to

The words she

Saved in a bell jar

His voice and words

Those she stole from him

As he showered before breakfast

this is quite interesting, Neville....seems a reference to Plath with the Bell Jar....but i think more than anything Ted influenced her in many ways...but her very dark voice came from within that tortured soul of hers...really like the layout in the form of the jar...the length of line so important here.

I oft wonder the origin of words and meanings and of voice... mine seems to ebb and flow as the waves roll about me and I ponder the derivation... I wonder if my voice is just a channel of the moment or just a collective call from the many that came before me that i witnessed in reading. This is clever and intriguing writing Mr. Nev:) I do need to read more Sylvia

Tis the kind of thing I oft ponder upon myself... and yet again, far too kind. Cheers Robert.

I think he inspired some of those words but even if she stole a few you might argue he stole more than that

Neat poem

I was left feeling that the she here was heavily influenced by the he. Why would she need to save his voice and words for a rainy day? Far better to use your own words and voice when you need it than to resort to using another's. Neat layout here Neville. Sticking to an exact shape. I feel restriction here. A feeling of being confined. That's not healthy. An interesting poem with endless possibilities.
