to be indeed,

as cheap as a

penny whistle was

Yet she beat him

I am sure that this is another poem of yours with multi meanings because you are clever like that. However as hard as I try I can only come up with an image of a dame with loose elastic in her knickers who gave this poor sod a bad time. Brevity which really does speak volumes and tugs at many emotions. But there again it could be something else entirely....... Most people wouldn't want to be beaten though, would they?

i find the muse in this...she beats us like our drums, even if we have calloused fingers from tapping the keys too hard, too often....too crazily.
