Nothing lasts for ever

there is no permanence at all

Except for time maybe ...

Now then

that is something else entirely

Don’t you agree darling …  

Surely

even time though

Will lose all meaning ...

Even purpose

unless used as a measure

Against some other thing, maybe …

Time is just empty space we navigate. And we are like a vapour trail passing through a blue sky, that soon dissipates into nothingness. Some vapour trails take longer to dissipate than others. Your poem had me pondering on death and why some people hang on longer than others. Some just have greater inner resilience, it must be in our genes.

All of life is impermanent except for life. Even after our times are over, times and lives will go on and on. But what could time be used as a measure against?

purpose seems to fade with time...we just lose sight of where we want or need to go...and then we are thrashing about in rough waters...trying not to go under when the waves of apathy hit us so hard.
