......... There's nothing fishy at all about it .. tis true I tell ya ..

A Mermaids Tale

 

That was the last we saw of her

ever

…..     The mermaids tail that was

now all of her blues and her

grays

…..     and her silvers an all

are quite marbled away

Like the

…..     skin of a mackerel

long since landed and played

Her wave washed goodbye said it all

…..  and gave the whole game way

to a sigh on the wind

and since then

…..      she has only by seen

by gulls, cormorants, and crakes

But for a moment

…..  back then, I just knew I could fly..

Yes tis as true as you make it the seeing of mermaids once in your lifetime so old fisherfolk say - - and your dream of a poem colours the sighting of luminous tail swishing goodbye with all the guile of poetic sensation so readers are left wide eyed and watching your flight of fancy --- exciting your sighting as I almost saw the same maid among cormorants off this coast recently - - or maybe not..................x

Well, you've got me beat. The only mythical creature I ever got a glimpse of was a roc...or thunderbird, or something like that. Much prefer mermaids. (The pretty ones) Ye make me old sailor heart pine fer the sea, ye do.

Thank goodness someone believes me.. I was about to recommend I be sectioned :) .. also how strange.. I grew up at 5 Gullworthy Cottages Gullworthy in Devon .. Now that is smile worthy :)

Looked up Gullworthy, must be West Devon methinks. I know South Devon well. Wonder if your cottages are still there? :)

Oh' they are our Chris but only four of them as two were knocked into one .. Gunnislake is the nearest Cornish town, used to be a village and Tavistock the nearest Devon one which I used to walk to from Gullworthy.. I plan to have a picnic close by at the end of the month . the kids wanna see where I grew up .. well they seen it before but it does feel kinda nice them asking..

Been to Tavistock many moons ago. Great idea taking your kids to see where you grew up. Mine have seen Westcroft Sq in Hammersmith, too bloody expensive to even buy one room now, let alone four floors. All rented out then. Owned by the wealthy now. Your kids need to know their roots :)
