Come-a-Day

A Poem by Neville

Come-a-Day

Dandelion clocks dancing on breezes

cuckoo spit, pollen, tickles, and sneezes

In the shallows, the petals of fallen

wild flowers

Cast shadows and tease

those sucked in by warm thermals

Yes there in the dapple where the current

bites deepest

Where once there was laughter

and of course, happy ever afters …

Spied only by sprites and by nymphs and by

dragonflies

That’s where he knows

he shall lay with thee some come-a-day …

Visual and sensual. So much said here. Poignant piece, sorrowful yet with a fitting ending. I saw ashes scattered together for eternity. Lovely work with depth to it.

I think many of us in the current climate are drawn to these thoughts Neville.

Can't but help think this was from your current predicament of flu, interspersed with fitful slips in and out of dreaming.
Nose tickled at mention of pollen and thought to self "uh-oh, flu is cafe-bourne" 😀
Love how this runs into almost fantasy... Of who??? Well, the last suggests the one that is, was and meant to be.

Ahh, best sketch ever. Even beats the I. T. Crowd episode where Moz reboots to the windows tune 😀

Always a pleasure.
4th stanza and the last line especially blew me away....
this is wildly sensual but at the same time penetratingly sad...
i think those dragonflies carried away the happy ever afters...and dropped them
just out of reach.
