What Matters Most

What Matters Most

A Poem by Neville

What Matters Most

It does not really matter

how

You choose to ignore him

now

Neither when, or how or

where

What really matters most

is surely

That you know

he's somewhere near

and the very

simple fact, despite yourself

it seems,

You really do, still care …… x

We are all the victims of a fickle mind and its connections between what we do, see and feel. A brief whiff of anything, from perfume to favourite crisp flavour can bring those to mind, that once never left it, proving that pasts ghosts do indeed haunt, like squatters in our own head.
As time passes, they may become more fleeting, but even after the years tick by, a sudden memory is all it takes to relive the best and worst of what never got to the end with both intact.
Nicely done Sir, and a happy sizzling Sunday to you.

Ah, but it's wonderful to have the honesty within to admit our feelings to ourselves, no matter what they may be. I'm not saying that they all should be acted upon, God forbid! But understanding our emotions gives us an insight to our natures, both the natural and the divine. I enjoyed the way you encompassed this idea in the second person here. Thank you for the inspiring read. Bless. F.

... How kind you are Fabian .. How grateful I am :)
This poem reminded me of a line I read somewhere- "in matters of the heart the memories are much kinder then the reality"
I guess people are still attached to those good memories and so it's difficult to forget or ignore the other person.
Well expressed !

Ahh those reflect moments in which your like damn I do still care. Sometimes we find that out too late and sometimes we hope the other person finds that they do still care.
