Your fondest regards dear Neville seem like a scarf. They start off with warm wool knitting with the tension nice and tight and then after a while the shape gets sort of loose and a few stitches are dropped on the way and the holes appear:) The finished product is not what you started with. The ending however, the last three lines you cast off quite neatly in your capacity as a helpless spectator. So wonderfully penned :)

Love your response. Loosen the scarf though, don't want any dead corpses on my conscience :))
a great poem. epic in breath, so full of care, understanding, and patience, with just the right amount of urging of a timely response to your (narrator's) needs and aches
take care friend
