elle était unique

 

and now, on reflection

I think it

only fair to say, she was

a bespoke

one off, one-of-a-kind

individual

unique as a thumbprint

a snowflake

and all of those curious

scribbles

on a reed buntings egg

all neatly

rolled into one, and in

every way

conceivably possible ..

Beautiful title. Impact of relational experience is what is so lovely about this one. It is nice to think that you were effected by the individual which your poem is about. We never know at least some of the time what others find interesting and nice about ourselves. That's the mystery. Joy is found in people. Just being around others. We also find the joy when an acquaintance becomes a much loved friend! Beautiful poem!

This one stays with me because in many ways every woman I have ever loved has had unique qualities about them that make them different than others. And as a typical man I demand more and wish I could take each individual quality and put them into one person. I come to understand that is not how life and love works. It's too simplistic a way to see love and experience it and is a failure on my part as an individual. I'm getting old now and forgetting much about those things I fell for in an single person. This is a good poem Neville.

of course, we are all unique in the truest sense of the word .. but that doesn't prevent us having similar desires, needs and indeed perceptions tho does it .. all be it that they are often determined largely by social & culturally valued ideals .. You are not alone though .. I am getting older & recognise many of my own failings .. I think that is one of the main reasons I scribble so much down in my vain attempt to hold onto so much that is now otherwise lost or gone .... Neville

reading your new one and all of a sudden a thought pops into my head...if all these odes are for one particular lass, or inspired by one, she is must be akin to the Mona Lisa!! and as well that I am a piker when it comes to penning odes to a fair lass. Mine only gets about one a week :)
