Upon Wanting to Die

 

There is nothing random here

believe me darling ..

Death would not become you

since you are,

as yet, far too alive and anyway

I would surely

miss you, oh’ so very dearly ..

No doubt for the

eternity you think it offers ..

However, if you

would but swear on oath,

to eventually

return, as and when, that is ..

Then I shall teach you

all you need to know, to explore

the wilderness of it ..

Until such time as your curiosity

is well and truly sated

I like the tone of this. It has an undertone of darkness with the shimmer of light. How can you show one the wilderness of it unless you are death itself. At the same time, there is love. It makes me think of Persephone and her capture and forced marriage to Hades as an explanation for the seasons. Overall, there is beauty in this. I like it very much. Well penned.

We are all curious about death and what comes after. This could be read as an enquiry or a threat from the darling in the poem. However what intrigues me most are the final five lines. I wanted to know more. I want to know about the wilderness of it and how the poet knows? An intriguing and thought provoking write. You got me thinking about reincarnation here Neville.

Ages since we last connected. I have been unbelievably busy and only posted one poem AWAKEN in the past couple of months.

Anyway, interesting to read your poem about death! I often write about death...For example FOREVERMORE ..
I have now read your poem several times ... Working at figuring out what it is all about.
Several thoughts come to mind.

yes, it has been a while .. and like you, I have been busy too .. It is so good to have you visit and leave such an encouraging comment .. I really am most grateful to you for it and the update on your life still in Spain .. I am in the process of completing the sale of my little bolt hole in Bulgaria and soon to become a grandparent for the first time .. Work is still very hectic but otherwise I continue to potter around and take in the view .. I shall return the favour asap but in the meantime wish you all the very best of all good things,

Oh goodness, a grandparent... Now that is rather exciting!!
I have grandchildren in College...so time just goes by.
Trying to adjust to being less busy... but that is not the case here...I think it is just in my genes to be doing something all the time...
