Good mane Neville. Goodness, this little write packs both a punch and a warning. A case of used, abused and dun in. Poor bloke I bet he didn’t anticipate that outcome. I note she didn’t do it on an empty stomach. So while she was relishing her food she was planning his demise. I wonder if she managed her prayers afterwards? You’ve got an x rated horror movie here my friend :) Sounds like she has an enormous appetite and low satisfaction levels:) if this is real life I hope she is well and truly locked up:)) Have yourself a good Monday.

Yes, those female mantises...

This reminds me of the song Eve of Destruction by Barry McQuire...and his line..."Hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace."
I wonder what her prayers might be like, and who is listening.

I have read that after praying mantises mate, the female bites the male's head off and then eats his body. This one sounds like the human equivalent. Sometimes being a guy isn't easy.

Female praying mantises are known to attack and cannibalise their mates mostly after a sexual encounter. Interesting habit and I wonder why they would do that. Is it the threat of being dominated or overpowered? Or is it that they realize he's just not needed anymore after the experience? The killing felt so ritualized and premeditated. He was never let on till he was gone. I could not help thinking it happens in our species too. A very intriguing poem and one that lends such sinister shades to the female of the species.
