I might decide to change the title for a handful of ghosts and a woman in blue ..

What is it About Poetry

Deliberate and oh’ so

very

slow indeed ..

Much like the opening

and the closing

of a palsied hand ..

I remember being told

or reading

somewhere, long ago

that poetry

is now the oldest

language known to man ..

Read and spoken

everywhere, much like

a single

universal tongue ..

Heard, understood, loved

and indeed

then acted on ..

Probing and empowering

telling truths

and likewise lies

then sharing sublime

secrets ..

Taking moments sacred

stored for

posterity and later savoured ..

Nicely done Nev. Let me know when it's coming out nearer the time.
Poetry is all these things and more to everyone. To me it's just an easy way to see if I'm wearing my big boy pants or not. If I write a serious piece I am, but mostly if it's light hearted or funny, it's a great excuse to smile in my penguin onesie, which in itself is like telling the world that I'm taking the next however long off from serious stuff and I'm going out to play until further notice...
So far, playtime has lasted for 54 years and still going 😊

Poetry is many things to many people. The important thing is that it lives on. Good to hear you are working on another anthology and that all the profits are to support charities which are dear to my heart too. I think this poem’s title needs to be changed. A handful of ghosts and a woman in blue as you mentioned in your notes would be a great choice Neville.
