one day, quite out of the blue, it just hit me ..

Shadows Don’t Share Secrets

 

Shadows will never

share

  

your secrets darling ..

So surely

echo’s won’t tell

  

your lies ..

But the truth lies out

there

  

somewhere maybe ..

So pray

where did they all go,

those

people we once knew

and then

with them the cream

of our

  

years and our dreams ..

I do so fear

they might well have

all been,

somehow shadowed

away ..

I can feel the sense of loss in this shadowy piece of writing. Things change, people change and shadows change but not something we notice when it happens, only until significant time has passed does it become obvious. Very deep my friend.

Had to visit after a long time of both smiles and discontent, Neville. For some, shadows are veiled memories that need be kept, for others they are mere throw way scribbles that one can use in lieu of whipping boys/girls. Reading a second time, pausing, there is sadness here or, perhaps, a haunting indifference that might never disappear. Your words are intriguing, but then, they always have been, sir!
