With No Cage to Hold Her She Learnt How to Fly

With No Cage to Hold Her She Learnt How to Fly

A Poem by Neville

With No Cage to Hold Her She Learnt How to Fly

He spent half

his life

making out

she was

the one in the

wrong ..

But the longer

the silence,

the sadder her

song became ..

And tho’

he regrets it

all now ..

All the more

chronic

the ache

became also ..

So he chose

to unlock

the cage and

leave the

door open ..

Allowing her

once more,

to fly free again ..

I think this one may be a metaphor for a human relationship. Attitudes can be cages as surely as can metal. The subject here saw the relationship was frozen in its current situation, was in fact dying. So he left the door open so the occupant could escape. If she chooses to return it will be of her own choice, and the relationship will be much stronger for that.
