Advice on Learning to Fall

Remember

my lovely,

to always run fast

   and run free ..

And don’t ever

be afraid

tho’ my darling,

   to jump high ..

But remember

my lovely,

to always land

lightly and roll with it ..

This sounds like the sort of advice I would expect you to offer little Astrid. You brought me some very nostalgic imagery. I was racing my Dad to the corner sweet shop as a six year old. He beat me by an inch, but not without exerting a huge surge of energy. We were sport mad in my childhood home.

You also brought me Steve my brother who maintained the school high jump record with his Fosbury flop for very many years after he achieved the record.

Wonderful sound advice, run fast and free and jump high and don’t be afraid. Soft landings go without saying. Best way to live.

So much here from your penned stanzas this morn. Set me up now that English breakfast:)

Indeed, the rolling is the most essential part of it. This is true in the physical sense and the metaphorical, which is what you are really trying to get across in this one, I think.
