Upon Leaving One’s Shadow Behind

 

Together we shall

defy both mirrors

and darkness

and live together

forever in gardens ..

But don’t you dare

suffer in silence

my precious,

instead let me in ..

We need to break

bread and to share

all of these gifts

we have been given ..

Unless you are on

some kind of

mission and driven

to discredit,

and then shaming

yours truly ..

Which surely would,

I imagine, feel more

like chasing

and killing your own

precious shadow ..

By the simple act,

of starving it of all light ..

There is enough darkness in this world without looking for more. Why starve yourself of light? This poem reminds me of that old saying re stubbornness. Cutting your nose off to spite your face. Surely a most unwise thing to do ? Now who would be on a mission to discredit? A question to ponder on here Neville. An intriguing write from your prolific pen. Have a beautiful Tuesday .

stranger things happen at sea .. or so me ma used to say .. and I know a lot of people who repeatedly cut off their noses to spite their own faces .. to try and make a point, regardless of how miserable or futile it should be ..
