Now Looking Back With Anticipation

Slow down child

don’t wish

your life away

like that ..

We know its late

but the cogs

and the wheels

are still turning ..

And while

I dare not look

back to see

what the future

might hold

by consulting

the leaves in my

new china

teacup darling ..

Each swirling

earl grey

murmeration

that I previously

found there ..

Now fills me

to the very brim

with much

love and indeed,

joyful anticipation ..

You brought my nan back. She would read tea leaves left at the bottom of the cup. I heard her voice as I read these lines and was reminded of her wisdom. I would say that despite perhaps some dregs in the past, the Earl grey remains in your new tea cup are looking pretty promising for the future. Now tell me if I have inherited any of my Nan’s foresight and wisdom:) I got the feeling someone was offering advice in the first part of this poem.
