Not Yet Quite Forgot

Not Yet Quite Forgot

A Poem by Neville

Not Yet Quite Forgot

the last time I saw her

she was laying with a stranger

beneath an ancient quilt

atop a memory foam mattress

   of many years lieing

and would not look back at me

   despite mouthing my name ..

How could you ever forget such treachery. (that is how I read this poem).

A memory foam mattress
of many years lieing

How brilliant in that. Brevity with a punch. Hopefully the bruise has now faded.

Have a great day Neville. The sun is peeping behind the clouds:)

That's one heck of a closing line you penned, Nev. I found it to be bittersweet, as though she was acknowledging the pain of hurting you. There's a lot to be said about silence. It's interpretation can be so misconstrued.

I love your play on words in that “atop a memory foam mattress”. I’m not sure it was intentional but I first thought it would be atop a memory so that play into the mattress wove two ideas together so well. Also that statement many years of living, again when someone is also lying? The the ending with the remakes of saying your name while not watching you. You’ve painted a clear tapestry of tragedy.
