sometimes, it makes more sense and is safer to

     

ignore them and to deviate on one’s own terms and time ..

I believe that following your own path and deviating only when you think about it very carefully ,is the best track to take.... I'm not saying don't be adventurous. because you may just change the course of history, but do it with some knowledge before...don't stand still either!

Sometimes, when a person is steadfast in their views of the world (hard earned, toil and trouble) a new poem, or a new idea, generally doesn't do a lot to alter the course. Sometimes, the new ideas are really old ideas, and they don't do a lot to change the course either.

I think deviating on one's terms and time is pretty sound advice. And on the topic of changing history, I'd say new ideas have long proven that they can cause their fair share in damage.

Caution is probably sensible. : )
