Some Words Speak for Themselves

 

Some words just speak for

   themselves ..

They need no advocate,

   or poet to recite them ..

HOPE

  

is surely, but one of them ..

And should be

bottled, clearly labelled,

kept safely,

 

  then savoured and saved ..

LOVE

is another such word surely

worth dying for ..

Believe me, wars are still

fought over it

 

  and tears frequently shed ..

PEACE

 

  shall serve here, as my final

   example,

the stuff dreams are made of

and a contradiction

in terms, since man fights so

many wars

   

in its name, just to achieve it ..

Yet today, it remains

   

distant and so far, so out of reach ..

You certainly picked the right words for this piece... maybe we should add "pray" as the world is in such tumult....wars and divisions, starvation and death...."Love is surely worth dying for"...."hope " and "peace" are words we need now...not that there is a good chance of peace, but we certainly can HOPE...

Good morning Neville. Hope, Love and Peace. Seemingly simple words but what power they hold. This is such a beautiful write for a world in conflict. It seems ridiculous that we have to fight wars to maintain peace. As you say it is such a contradiction. The chance of world peace seems more distant with every passing day sadly. However we can live in hope and keep love in our hearts. Have a wonderful Wednesday my friend, and don’t work too hard do ya hear?
