The Cruelest of All Bed Partners

Just look at me, why don’t you

I am not broken,

okay, maybe bruised a touch

and disillusioned ..

So why does it still hurt so much ..

Just look at me, why don’t you

I am not a token,

but maybe, an accessory perhaps

and though not broken, should you

dare to look, you just may see the cracks ..

Just look around, why don’t you

I am not joking,

reality is a cruel, conniving thief ..

Once I thought you perfect

but truth and time, stole that belief ..

Just look and see, why don’t you,

forget the games

and delusions the dream is lost

and all but shattered,

reality and time are such cruel bed partners ..

Reality and time ARE cruel bed partners. If we are lucky we achieve what we want to, before the body starts to wear out. I detected frustration here, not desperation.

Is the author talking to himself or another? No one is perfect, no one at all. Everyone has flaws.

I actually saw fingers in ears here, deaf to what the author is saying. That could of course be his own fingers or that of others.

The aging process sucks, the body wears, if we are lucky the brain still works, though that of course needs oiling now and again as well.

A fine piece of reality writing. So much to do and so little time to do it.

Happy Saturday Neville. 🍷

Now this is overthinking at its worst. When we start criticizing ourselves for outward appearances and disheartened by not accomplishing what we deem we need to have gotten done at a certain point in our lives. It seems to be a going around illness as of late, overthinkingosis.

I love the way the stanzas are laid out in this poem and the words you carefully chose for each line. Well done

And it seems I’m the first to review this overthinking masterpiece
