Since there is now nothing

there except

 

  for the spectacular view ..

He placed

a rustic wooden bench

by the side

of the road to provide a

little comfort

and respite for the weary

feet of both

   

pilgrims and of travellers ..

And for

the ghosts of his parents

who used to

love watching the Kernow

choughs,

dolphins, surfers and gulls

in the bay

overlooked from their once

more than

   

beautiful of cliff top gardens ..

 

 

Author's Note

Kernow is the Cornish word for Cornwall. It derives from the Celtic word “kernou,” meaning “horn” or “headland.” Chough is a red legged coastal bird & member of the crow family once extinct in Kernow, but now gradually returning ..

Hello Pat & thank you for calling in on my most recent scribble .. the place I refer to is a special place in general but I think it is extra special for me .. my parents house is long gone, so is the old bench my father made and placed there .. but I hope to replace it soon with an appropriate brass plaque high on the hill top above the bay where I scattered my parents ashes together what now feels like a long time ago too .. kindest of regards, Neville
