Remembering An Orange Room

Remembering An Orange Room

A Poem by Neville

Remembering An Orange Room

Don’t ask me for how long,

I’m not sure these days ..

But for a while at least,

we lived, we ate,

we slept, breathed and we

made out in a small

orange room, that glowed

by the ocean,

at both ends, of those long

summer days ..

But then, all our shadows

became darker,

and without any warning

they came in off

our mountain and covertly

stole your last breath

and took all my sunbeams away ..

Bereavement hangs over this one. The first part of the poem recalls an idyllic past of young lovers living by the sea. Then suddenly we are whisked to a darker time, which includes the present, when half of the couple passed on from this place. The speaker, who is the surviving spouse, has understandably not recovered from the loss.

I always find You writing in a simple emotive way (just like the way I love :>). it might took long years, even a whole life to recover from a broken heart or loss, humans are both fragile and strong, that's a uniqueness of us, and we should embrace the these two opposite sides. I have to say too... That You made my imagination wander into beautiful places reading your first lines. Happy times...

You put the reader in the feelings, in the scene, in the room and making it feel all the love and warm then broke their hearts in the blink of an eye! Show us some mercy... It's dangerous how you put words this hauntingly beautiful
