This is so much more

than just fun,

or a flight of fancy, she said ..

Can you not

feel it in those

pretty wings of yours ..

Although I learnt

a long time ago,

it’s okay to look back ..

I dare not go

anywhere

near them, these days ..

It’s all in the way

we plummet and fall

from the sky, you see ..

Much like Icarus burned,

so maybe we all

should have just listened more ..

Flights of fancy are like happy thoughts for a busy mind, escaping within and ignoring the reality outwith, yet just like Icarus we all have that duh moment when we realise our best laid plans had one tiny blind pot in the mirror as we reflect on it, just before we crash and burn. 😃
