Filling Gaps

Filling Gaps

A Poem by Neville

Filling Gaps

Isn’t it amazing just

how little space

we each take up here ..

Yet when gone,

the whole which is

always left behind ..

Feels impossible to

swiftly or adequately fill

except with sorrow and tears ..

This poem is quietly powerful. It says so much with so few words. The way you captured the silence and heaviness of absence is really moving. It leaves you thinking long after you’ve read it. This poem of yours, it also kind of reminds me of a quote that I read, "Always have a unique character like salt. Its presence is not felt, but its absence makes a huge difference." Also the contrast between how little space we take up and how big the emptiness feels when we're gone.. it's very deep.
Reading this felt like a hidden note only meant for the heart to hear. It really did, for me that is.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.

so true my friend ... a rather serious poem from you brother ... the loss of those we care about, love deeply creates a great void when taken from us ... it's the struggle that ensues that can make or break us, as they say .. love on ya sir! hope all is well with you and yours!

You have summed up perfectly here Neville, in so few words the hole that is left behind when someone significant is absent from our lives. The silence is deafening, the emptiness painful. An ache to the soul. Your words impact heavily. A footprint on the heart. Superb and memorable poetry. Have a beautiful weekend.

This poem is beautifully, achingly expressed.
Soft. Simple. Profound.
