Why Nothing Falls Together

 

I cannot think of you without

   my seeing her ..

   Then I get the strangest feeling ..

It’s like a union

occurs somewhere between my

memories, perceptions

   and our collective unconscious ..

But nothing ever

   falls together these days does it ..

It just seems

   to keep falling apart, as always ..

So when I do

think back on the times we once

shared, it now all

   seems fragmented and distanced ..

Still, I can’t help but

smile at the tears you then shed,

for one moment

back then, I thought, I might just

   have meant something ..

i feel the sadness of a broken heart ... gently emotive for me sir! i especially am spoken to in the second couplet ... i think it's that union that is the basis for love and most missed ... the sex and shared beliefs and activities are also important; but not like the loss of being one with another ... this speaks to me this morning Nev! Melancholy to go with my gray skies.

When I first read this poem a while back, I can not tell you how impacting I found your two opening lines. I remember clearly hearing those exact words from a significant other, many moons ago. They broke my heart. Your poetry has the ability to connect deeply. I found it really strange that this poem transported me to a time over three decades in the past. I will never forget those words, and I find them again here. The whole poem speaks to me of loss and hurt. So powerfully penned Neville. I just had to return and leave a comment.

"Nothing Falls Together" because the earth is a cosmic pizza. I've been saying this. People think I'm joking or they say I'm absurd... I'm serious. But sometimes when it falls together it makes life taste better but it's also, messy and looks unappetizing but we still eat it up... because this is the world we live in, Neville. Lol
I probably took a left turn and went into the 6th dimension and misinterpreted your poem. I'm kinda drunk but I don't want to admit that, so I'll just say your poem made me feel that strange tilt in the universe again. The way memories refuse to line up..I relate to that disjointed feeling more than I want to admit. Even if I drifted into cosmic pizza territory, the heart of your poem still hits.. It is beautiful, Neville.

Who hurt my baby!? I am ready to fight… but to also cry. This poem created a scene in my mind, like sitting next to a dim light and head is between your hands and just feeling dizzy, staring the ground and trying to remember or think of her like a drunk man… that’s mostly what i feel when i read your poems… and i missed that feeling like HELL!

Isn't it amazing that those chaotic filled moments of how it ended are so poetically manoeuvred into almost nostalgia, when at the time you were too busy holding up the sky to notice that your world had changed irrevocably, which even you must admit Nev, is a bloody big word for ten to seven in the ayem of what hints to be another dreich Wednesday!
Im getting a hint that without those rose tinted glasses of introspection, your words much like my own would be far more guttural and make us all turn over and wrap the duvet around us that bit tighter, to hold in all those screams!

Very Melancholic Neville; I think many of us feel this way, like what is the meaning of life? If everything is falling apart, there is nothing much we can do about it except feel sad and confused; mixed emotions makes it worse; if we can just hold on to some memories, I think we will be okay in the end....
