The Impact of Sudden Unexpected Realisation

The Impact of Sudden Unexpected Realisation

it is what it is ..

"

The Impact of Sudden Unexpected Realisation

time came to me again

last night

and reminded me that

when it

chooses to, it can hurt

   like hell ..

burning brief but hard

and deeply

with a certain surefire

   familiarity ..

flashing bright on their

slow but firm

descent much like some

back on back

   strobe light might drop ..

each falling

from a steady dribbling

faucet set

firm in stone and higher

even than

those glass ceilings that

I repeatedly

set for my good self

and then later,

   became so famous for ..

oh’ yes, I am

quite sure, it was those

time drop

visitations that left such

an aftertaste of

saccharine and creosote

   in their wake ..

still no one takes blame

for wrongs

found on bad walk street

these days

since each is as guilty as

   the next ..

and of course I can’t be

seen eating

sweet peaches from a tin,

with a mouth

already full of both guilt

   and regret ..

so again, I am reminded

of how precious

time has always been

yet without

   my consciously realising it ..

But Nev, eating tinned peaches from the tin is the best way to eat 'em! I've tried with the good bowls out, with some ice cream and yeah, its not to everyone's liking but ginger marmalade is awesome, or a dollop of honey.
"still no one takes blame
for wrongs" is because of that pesky part of the brain connected to the "but" part of the vocal cord, where wishy thinking invades sense and the ability to see things how others see them evades us all.
Time for reflection can and does sting, "but" it is required to stop us all falling into the world of it's and buts. (I had to really think about that last line as my head kept telling me to type but world! 😃
Hope you had some sweet choccy goodness for Easter and you remained unperturbed from those pesky wabbits! 😃

A quiet reflection. Getting older makes us appreciate more the time we have left and to make sure it is used wisely. Memories can drop in at any time and shake us up. This poem is bitter sweet. Life is like that and there aren’t many who can move through life without having regrets or guilt alongside the happy successes and good deeds they do. Enjoy the time left, make it choc full of light and happy. A sobering write Neville.
