On a Road to Knossos

No elaboration whatsoever has been used to accentuate the beauty I found there again this time around ..

On a Road to Knossos

Such small white stone

domed houses

each set on green

hillsides amid vineyards

and olive groves ..

Sitting pretty like doves

all casually scattered

against a backdrop of

turquoise while the scent

of figs and wildflowers

simultaneously

caress each of my eyes

and my nostrils ..

Oh’ yes indeed my friend

that is precisely how

and where we found our

small priceless sliver of Crete ..

You stimulate the senses with this poem, especially with its backdrop of stunning imagery. Being that close to nature is incredibly uplifting. Have never been to Crete, but did visit Rhodes and found a touch of heaven there too. I could picture the scene perfectly and loved the wild flowers and white domed houses against a turquoise background. Just lovely.

Only been to Knossos once Nev but should have gone back by now. It was and hopefully still is picture perfect and even caught the taste of their olives whilst reading this, which incidentally i don't remember ever being charged for, they always just appeared in the table.
Its funny how a place can be so attached to a certain food but it is, despite Portugal being similar and also highly recommended if you want a tuna salad so fresh it winks at you from the plate.
May I also just point out that this piece is seriously lacking in Britishness. You barely mentioned the stifling heat, when only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun! 😃

I'm glad you can feel what I saw Loz & yes, she is still very pretty .. I also get that thing about tastes ..and I also get it about smells, nice ones that is .. If you haven't been to India you really must I'm hoping to go back in October ..Oh' n Portugal is just as you describe I love the Algarve in particular .. Soz Loz about the lack of Britishness, it rained a couple of times & I had forgot me brolly .. By jove I so wish you woz there 😎🐧💛🐧👍xx
