The Rain Taps Militarily

The Rain Taps Militarily

A Poem by Astro
"

This is simply a reflection. The night out my window, the feeling in the air, the sadness everywhere that falls like rain. About the political winds that sweep you up, tragedy fed to you daily...

"

A full-mouthed gust tears through trees

Headlights, hunchbacks with pelted faces

Dark mud erupts like Legion 'neath the rain

Footfalls and shrieking...We are at WAR

The storm of rage and flood of emotions

Then

A sudden quiet in the trees, in the sky

That pressing silence, sense of passing

Needing for assurance, for finality

The knowing....
 That this too shall pass.

It was more of an exercise rather than a polished piece but I hope someone might find something in it's substance. The Block is heavy.

"That pressing silence"... the build up gave that line so much weight for me. It's a pleasure to still read your poetic voice, even if just experimental.

Admittedly rusty but thanks for the kind words.

I have much rust to shake off as well. Hope to read more of your work soon.
Good to see you back; glad to know you are still alive and writing.
