Dancing In The RainA Poem by Nicole K.Ending the cycleCrash " thunder in the dark, The mourning song of this skylark.
Tears tracing, tarnishing my bruised cheeks: From beatings that punctuate the weeks.
The rhythm of his slaps and punches melding, Becoming the soundtrack to my life " dancing.
I dance in the rain, twirl in the storm, Accept the drunken torrent as my norm.
If he were gone, my dance would be done. With sore, swollen feet, I reach for the gun. © 2016 Nicole K. |
