Isleen Reilly only knows how to do one thing, and it's to feed on blood. For centuries, Isleen and her family a month a year feed on humans so they don't get suspected of being the true beings that they are. But one night on that certain month, Isleen finds a human that captivates her; Emmet Hartwell, who's dying of a bear attack. She can't bring herself to drain him dry, saving him from almost dying. Isleen then becomes friends with Emmet, having to keep him a secret from her family, also having to keep Emmet's curiousity away from what she really is.
