I wrote this while sitting on the beach after my cousin's funeral

"

IF ONLY

If only I could've see behind the smiles
If only I could've heard the tears behind the laughs
If only I would've asked more questions
If only I'd been made aware
If only I had known to gently encourage you to share
If only I could've been there more for you...
But I didn't know
If only more people knew
you wouldn't have had to go
My heart is breaking over "if only"
