Murk

Murk

A Poem by Nitesh Mahabal

I keep running,
like a road without footprints.

I keep healing,
wounds inherited that I never caused.

I conceal the scar,
to protect those who gave it.

I fight a war"uphill against myself.

I swim against the river,
only to float ashore.

Climbing the summit"
staring into the blinding dark.

Wow, This really resonated with me!
Reading it felt like listening to my own inner voice, the part that keeps pushing forward despite inherited wounds and unseen battles. I love how you capture the struggle between self-protection and self-discovery. It hits deeply.

It's brave and tender at the same time, showing the resilience we carry even when no one sees it.
The poem captures that sense of persistence and reflection, the uphill fight we all know yet rarely articulate. I kept pausing on phrases because they felt like mirrors, reflecting inner landscapes we often ignore. There’s a raw honesty here, and it lingers in the mind long after reading.

This isn’t just a poem. It's a companion to anyone navigating the unseen struggles of life.
Thank you for putting such a vulnerable and resonant piece into the world!

Your poem carries a raw, inward strength each image feels earned, restrained, and emotionally honest, showing a writer who trusts silence as much as words.

Nitesh,
We are all doomed to wander with no true knowledge of anything eternal... unless we do what is necessary to make a place, find an anchor, shine the little bit of light we have, and illuminate what we can. You, me, and everyone is unique in our own experience and thoughts. The value each of us brings to life is important to the entire conscious universe.

Has the sound of one who sustained emotional wounds early in life. Perhaps from those close. The effects of those wounds apparently persist, and the speaker struggles against them. The struggle continues, with no signs of success yet. But anything can happen.
