Point Blank Range

At Christmas time when you gave me
this notebook and this pen,
did you ever stop to think things
would be like they are again?

and when you look into my eyes
and say it's where you want to stay,
do you believe the words you say,
or is it just a game that you like to play?

Every time the sun starts to rise
you spin back the planet and the skies
you're clipping both our wings?
I thought you wanted to fly

Say you don't know what the problem is
you just know that there is one,
and I'm doin' my best to solve it
all these shots in the dark, well they're no fun

Every time we reach for the sky
we freeze face to face at Point Blank Range
I'm always lookin' at you and I'm screaming "why?"
it happens just as often as things don't change
and I've got more things than time to explain

The poem doesn't give me a feeling of you screaming point blank. Therefore I find it hard to understand the image from the last stanza in context.
Overall, this piece is more ruminative than angry.
