Master of Time

Master of Time

A Poem by Noah Adair

Master of Time

I am a master of time -
Yet one skipped heartbeat breaks me
A single second drifting loose,
Like dust rising in a half-lit room,
Uncertain where it intends to fall.

Like a tremor passing through
the fabric of lost hours,
In a universe caught briefly
in a single longing breath,
Trembling before it drifts out on waves,
Touching everything and nothing.

I watch it as it passes away,
Silently and relentlessly,
A fracture of the briefest happiness,
Flowing hopelessly beyond my reach,
Fleetingly and infinitely desperate,
And I am left awed and undone.

Nicely written Noah. I love your closing lines: Fleetingly and infinitely desperate, And I am left awed and undone.
