A Story by Nolan Kalby

Markus a citizen of a ruined mars in the far future of 2072 is up against a Alien with a taste for flesh, Can Markus survive?

"
The year is 2072, 30 years since The United Continent of America formerly The United States of America had colonized mars. My name is Markus. I'm writing this for anyone who might find it, if they even decide to come to this hellish planet. Mars has been overrun by aliens called the Monstrum. They are about 8 feet tall with dirty yellow skin and 4 black beady eyes on their face above their long tube mouth with rows of sharp yellow teeth. The Monstrum’s bodies look identical to a human’s other than its extremely boney and skinny and has 7 tentacles long coming out of its back. The monstrum are extremely deadly and hard to kill. Nobody truly know how or why the Monstrum showed up, hell we don’t even know how they got here but the most accepted theory, or at least the one the UCA told us before abandoning us here is that the Monstrum came out from Mars’s core after the atmosphere formed in 2049 the Monstrum were awakened from their sleep and the first thing they found was a human which they correctly blamed for awaking them and started killing every human in site. Suddenly there is a slithering sound behind me and I drop the note I had written  into a first aid kit. “Hello?” I say with deep fear in my voice mentally I was praying it was something else but a Monstrum but then the cold reality appeared in front of my eyes. It was a Monstrum. I rushed for my gun to kill a beast I knew was unkillable. I landed 2 shots on it. Nothing. I jumped out my window and started just running with no point B in mind or sight. I then spot an aid station built for citizens on Mars daily needs. I ran through the door shoving it open at an incredible speed and hid behind the counter. The monster slithers its way in. I can feel the adrenaline and fear rushing through my body. Until the worst happens, it spotted me. Its tentacle slowly reaches for my arm and touches it. The tentacle felt cold and slimy with a feeling that I could only describe as accidentally touching rotten food. Before its tentacle could wrap around my arm and take me I hurried over the wall where I spotted a fire extinguisher and grabbed it. I toss the fire extinguisher at the Monstrum and shoot it mid air causing an explosion. After the smoke clears I look at it. The Monstrum had been launched back by the explosion and impaled on a piece of pipe sticking out of an already broken concrete wall. The Monstrum cries out gasping for air in its final breaths then it is dead.
