Delirium

Delirium

A Poem by Tracey Hays

The mind,
An enigmatic box,
Of which no keys may unlock.
Deep passages thoughts dwell,
Of which stories tell tale.
Phantasmal thoughts,
Where oblivious perception lies aloft.
Delirium sets in,
The conscious draws thin.
Delusive thoughts made virtuous,
Paranoia takes flight.
The Black Death comes to take your life,
With all will you fight in strife.
Suddenly Death vanishes from sight,
As if he disappeared into the night.
Through all of the pain,
You felt such a strain.
All though you felt weary,
Your thoughts simply left you queerly...
