Battle SpeechA Poem by Tracey Hays
Though my death my await me,
Thy honor thou shall not take from thee. Hark! And hear the drums pounding, the horns blowing, The march of 10,000 men, their halberds growing. And like the river, how swiftly they do flow, Covering the cracks and crevices with a hell-bent glow. And I stand before you shield and sword, I will tell you it is I who leads this hoard. May God bless my blade, and valor fill my heart, And if all is said, let the battle start. © 2008 Tracey Hays |
