Sonnet of Wind

Sonnet of Wind

A Poem by Tracey Hays

Wind, strong wind, how far do you reach,
Beyond the lonely valley, or tall mountain peak?
And eons have passed, and yet you blow still fast.
Covering every groove, making the red woods move.
How gentle you are on a warm summer day,
And how peaceful you blow in spring or in May.
Quietly you push through the strands of time,
Like an unsung verse that is but a rhyme.
When fall comes, it overturns green thumbs,
And leaves turn brow, you walk them to the ground.
As great clouds over the sky, you help them pass by.
For birds that do fly, you carry them far and wide.
I drink to you o fair wind, for the help you descend,
And to the gifts you give me, so redeeming.

I'm not familiar with the technicalities of sonnets or anything, but as a piece of writing, I enjoyed reading this. My favorite lines:

Quietly you push through the strands of time,
Like an unsung verse that is but a rhyme.

The whole thing is good throughout. :)
