Sonet of Ram

Sonet of Ram

A Poem by Tracey Hays

Great and feral battering ram,
How you differ from the soft white lamb.
Horns of iron, hooves of steel,
Driven by instinct an unconscious will.
Grazing the pastures that is your skill,
Standing tall top of the hill.
Bombs and buildings rest not in your mind,
The edge of the woods marks the end of the line.
Strength and power flow through your head,
It's written in blood on those who are dead.
Knowledge is power,
But wisdom towers.
Great and feral battering ram,
How you differ from the soft white lamb.
