Teen Baby Mama

If I talked about boys it became a heated discussion,
My parents said I was too young and that I was rushing,
Mom and dad were very protective,
A little too much from my perspective,
All I wanted was to have some fun,
Instead, I felt like a prisoner on the run,
At fourteen I thought I was grown,
Thought I was ready to be on my own,
I ran the streets and came home late,
Wasn't long before I started to date,
Met a guy who seemed to like me,
Didn't hesitate like John Legend says I gave him all of me,
Didn't force him to use protection,
I was really naive and afraid of rejection,
I got pregnant which was no surprise,
He said it ain't his baby and started telling lies,
I told my parents I was keeping the baby,
They said, what's wrong have I gone crazy,
They said, why bring a child into this world,
You not grown yet you just a little girl,
I ran away from home to get away for a while,
Ended up in a home for teen mothers,
Wasn't alone there were plenty of others,
Ran away again and my baby was taken,
Didn't realise the mistake I was making,
Ended up in prostitution and drugs,
I couldn't seem to stop meeting thugs,
I almost died of a drug overdose,
Twas like I saw a light ever so close,
I realised I had to get my life in order,
I wanted to be the one raising my daughter,
Got some help and stayed clean and sober,
I got my baby back and I promise I'll never let go of her,
I got her back but making it was tough,
The neighbourhood we lived in was rather rough,
My daughter has a ten year old and she is twenty-four,
Talk about turning a revolting door,
I had a life full of drama,
Just because I became a teen baby mama.
