Warmth, Warm.A Story by Chloe Nyx FaulknerA very short piece I did for a prompt.
It hadn’t been winter for almost two months and still I was cold. I felt the long fingers of hurt gripping at my heart and squeezing until the air left my lungs. It had gotten better with time but I was still nowhere near as strong as I was before, because when you’re loved you feel as if you can do anything, you feel as if the whole world couldn’t knock you down as long as you held their hand in yours. When they leave you for whatever reason it’s like a hole being punched through your chest and you become just as fragile as everyone else again. You fall from the status of being in love to being heartbroken and ordinary, and suddenly all the warmth leaves and you’re left living everyday as if it is winter.
