One Last Cut

One Last Cut

A Poem by Olivia C. H.

I stare blank at my bare virgin arms
So unwritten,
So empty.
That's me-
Unwritten.
Empty.
Just one cut
Dear God, I promise that's all I'll do.
And one white pill, that's all I'll take.
That will be enough for me.
That will ease the hurt
And reveal the secrets I attempt to keep.

I stare blank at my unforgivable face
Lined with shadows and running make up.
I just want to feel whole again.
This will fix it.
Just one cut
Dear God, I promise that's all I'll do.
And one white pill, that's all I'll take.
That will be enough for me
To get on with my day.

I stare blank at myself.
My eyes dark with circles underneath,
My arms with deep scars.
I just want to stop.
Just one last cut
Dear God, won't that be enough?
Just one last white pill-
Maybe two will do the job.
I want out of here.
My emptiness is oddly consuming.

One last cut.
Dear God, that will be enough.
