Sleeping Pill Soliloquy

Sleeping Pill Soliloquy

A Poem by Jonhoi Vaughn

In submission,

It only takes a flame to eat me dry.

One tear to drown me wet.

In submission,

I hold life inert and raw.

And I think to myself,

“I am small.”

“I am a wart on the face of the earth.”

I am small.
You probably wouldn't notice me
if you passed by.
I am a grain of sand
that finds it's way
into your shoe.
I'm the hint of something
that passed this way
before.
But in my humility
I can not be forced
smaller than I choose to be.

Sorry. . . you caught me in a weird mood between the rain that was and the rain that will be. Please overlook my foolish prattle.
