I choose Sorrow

I choose Sorrow

A Poem by Paul Seaman
"

progress... not sure..

"

I choose Sorrow

   not regret

   not pain

       per se

       for me

The expectation of Enjoyment

       is too much

       to bear

The weight of Joy

       is too much

       to sustain

The pleasure of happiness

       is too much

       to expect

There is Grace

   in Sorrow

There is Consistency

   in Injury,

& a Comfort

   in the Attainable.

I choose Sorrow

   as my mentor

   as my partner

 going forward.

There is an anesthetic

   that comes from Consistent exposure

              to Sorrow,

It deadens the Impact --

    and adds reflection

       to the price

          of this life.                                            paul seaman

Truthful words in a great poetic form...:)

I guess that since you were widowed, 'sorrow' became an integral aspect of the healing process, and to regard sorrow as a friend is unusual to me, perhaps you find sorrow a motivational, life affirming factor in your life, I get the impression that you do anyway, I like your style, nice writing
