His Other LoverA Poem by Brittany
He said his dying day,
Would be when she left. But little did he know, His love was she bereft. This woman saw her face, Tears just rolled from her eyes. She pleaded desperately, Convinced it was all lies. In the beginning, He was gentle and sweet. But who would expect, A liquid defeat? Although he may have lost, Not only his way but mind. She loves him and tries, To help him one last time. She begs for his salvation, Pleading to God for healing. Asking to make the other lover, Stop her love's stealing. He doesn't seem to believe, In a higher being. But she knows, It's more than seeing. God grants serenity among them, A gentle whisper of sudden bliss. He sobers up to drop the bottle, Giving his woman the sweetest kiss. He is healed, More now recovered. His eyes though, Did God greatly uncover.
