This is about the heartbreak of losing someone.

Shattered Dreams
By Shawn P Cassidy
She lives a life of broken heart and shattered dreams,
where silence grows sharp and nothing is what it seems.
Memories cling like ghosts that refuse to fade,
haunting the ruins of the life they made.
She runs a marathon that never ends,
a circle of grief that never mends.
Her world spins slowly, round and round,
no finish line, no solid ground.
She lost the one person who carried her light,
her reason to rise, her will to fight.
They walked together, side by side,
until that night, when he up and died.
He swore he’d stay, that he'd never leave.
He swore he'd never let her grieve.
A promise broken, a heartbeat undone,
all because of a man with a loaded gun.
She carries his memory like glass in her veins,
each shard a reminder
of irreversible pain.
Now wandering through shadows that swallow her whole,
a body still breathing, a half-missing soul.
Every step forward feels wrong, out of place,
as if death left its fingerprints all over her face
The reaper lingers in the corners of her screams,
waiting in the fractures between her dreams.
He knows she’s fading
he can hear it in her chest,
a slow, tired rhythm
that refuses to rest.
And every night, the darkness redeems
the echo that drags her
through shattered dreams.
