Death's dimensionA Poem by PAPPACASSThe finalization of lifeDeath's Dimension By Shawn P Cassidy He stood before the doorway carved in endless night, A frame of frozen shadows swallowing the light. He wondered if anyone would notice his fall, If a single voice would echo when he made his final call. The air around him thickened like a mortal, dying breath, A quiet invitation from the kingdom of his death. The walls seemed to whisper, the floor seemed to sigh, As if the world itself was preparing to say it's goodbye. He reached for the doorknob--cold as a tomb, A promise of silence, a wide, empty room. The moment he touched it, the darkness replied, A low, distant hum from the other side. He stepped through slowly, leaving life behind, A ghost shedding memory-- no longer could he find. He wished to be seen, but nothing replied; the darkness received him, open and wide. No angels greeted him, no demons drew near, Just a vast, hollow realm untouched by fear. The dimension of death was neither heaven nor hell, Just an endless expanse where forgotten souls dwell. He felt himself fading, dissolving like dust, A man becoming nothing in a world without trust. And in that void-- cold, quiet, immense He found the only peace that ever-made sense. Now he rests where meaning loses intention… alone in the hush of Death’s Dimension. © 2026 Shawn P. Cassidy.
