If heaven was real, this is how I imagined an angel would feel.

The Death And Rebirth Of An Angel
By Shawn P Cassidy
I watched an angel crumble, her glow growing thin,
Her wings dragged heavy with the weight of sin.
Feathers once silver now matted with night,
A creature of heaven losing the fight.
Tears carved rivers down her hollowed face,
Each drop a memory she longed to erase.
Her halo flickered like a dying star,
A beacon fading from a world too far.
She whispered to shadows, her voice barely breath,
A hymn unraveling in the jaws of death.
The sky turned its back, the choir fell mute,
As darkness crowned her in funereal soot.
But ruin is patient'' it waits for the spark,
The ember that trembles alone in the dark.
And from her collapse rose a terrible flame,
A rebirth forged from torment, not from shame.
Her wings reformed with a blood-red glow,
A fallen seraph with a power to overthrow.
Her halo ignited in a violent blaze,
A torch for the damned in the end of days.
She rose from the ashes with a breath that burned,
A creature reborn
from a world she spurned.
