The Music Shop

The Music Shop

A Poem by Kathryn Smith

I'd like to tell you the truth

I hardly know you

And I don't want to let you go

Deep in Dublin city

I sat alone in a music shop

I played piano and never stopped

There was a tap on my shoulder

A pair of eyes were sparkling like raindrops

His hair was all a wire

He had a crooked smile

Harry said he

Pleased to meet you said me

We shook hands and spoke of piano keys

Like strong wind blowing though trees

I wanted to fall to my knees

My Birthday is in July said I

Same with mine he said to me

We stood and smiled in silence

Shy and in wonder

Nervous and undercover

The sparks were like no other

Soon I had to go

Standing behind us

My sister needed me

and I regretted not having much left to show

Harry I want you to know

On that day you made me merry

One day this January

I discovered you and your brother

You were born on my birthday

and I was born on yours

July 21st 1992 was the day

Was that time for lovers?

For fate?

Our meeting surely wasn't a mistake

You sing and play your guitar

I admire you from afar

Harry if we ever meet again

I hope we can be friends

Your life will never be the same

For you are sky rocketing to fame

I'll never forget that day

The time I sat in Dublin

In Dublin at a music shop

Caught, acknowledged, and taken higher by you

You shouted your love from the rooftop

And I promised I'd forget you not

Very lovely, Kat.

In a different lifetime I'd swear you'd be an angel. I only hope I'll be fortunate enough to meet one like you in my next life.

Superb piece.

Wow! Beautiful, lovely tale..!
We often cross paths with hundreds of people never realising how these small meetings touch our lives and change something!
I absolutely loved this! Got me daydreaming!
The eloquent tale gripped me till the end with its wonderful, vivid imagery!
Adding to my favourites!
