Breaking Free p1

Breaking Free p1

A Story by Kathryn Smith

And I am smiling

Because of this glorious freedom

Freedom I thought my heart wouldn't know

Let alone see

My head is held high

My feet have touched down

They're planted in the ground

I survived the worst of it all

And my heart joyful

Finally

My legs are running in motion

Arms in air

Sprinting gleeful light

My shadow races the sun

For I have new butterflies

They won't come undone

The girl I knew last summer

With a tear stained face

Soaked pillow case

Broken in half

Hiding in the dark

Shriveled

Wasting away

Dying from hurt

Has risen today

I can feel again

So I'll jump again
